The name Whatley was introduced to England during the migration that followed the Norman Conquest of 1066. The Whatley family resided in the village of Whatley in Somerset. Whateley Hall, a stately home built in the 18th century, was located in the Warwickshire countryside near Castle Bromwich. In the 1930s, the hall and its estate were demolished, and the land was sold for housing development.
